Check back on this page to see who will become the expert panel in determining the Best Overall tacos and cocktails for the 2018 competition on Sunday, March 25th at the Old Cigar Warehouse!
Head Barman, Motor Supply Bistro
Josh Streetman, Columbia, S.C. native, has been working in the restaurant business for as long as he can remember. When asked why he loves bartending, Streetman flourishes. “I like the creativity aspect; the freedom to create my own ideas and think of unique applications for different things. I like to keep drinks interesting and unique.” Awarded Free Times’ 2017 “Best Bartender” again, his creative cocktails have received national and regional recognition.
Food Blogger, Christen Eats
Christen is a born and raised Greenvillian but flew the coop up to New York City after graduating from Clemson. Long story short, she started attending night classes at the Institute of Culinary Education while in New York. She completed about 80% of the program before realizing she wasn't cut out for the restaurant kitchen, but knew she still wanted to be connected to the culinary community in some way. Christen moved back to Greenville almost 2 years ago and launched her food blog and Instagram @christeneats. Now she can be spotted scouring Greenville for the best bites and sips in town!
Multimedia Producer, GVL Today
Kendall Henderson is a producer at GVLtoday and flexitarian (will make exceptions for Gringo's chorizo + potato tacos). Everyone in her office knows she is obsessed with cheese, so any taco covered in queso will win her heart, and she's a firm neutral in the flour-vs-corn tortilla debate. While new to the world of gourmet tacos, she basically survives off making them at home.
Executive Director, euphoria
Morgan is the Executive Director for euphoria Food, Wine and Music Festival. A veteran of the food and beverage industry with nineteen years of experience, she utilizes her expertise to coordinate chefs and beverages for the festival - which distributes over 7,000 tickets across thirty events in four days. When asked which drink is her favorite to make after her years behind the bar, it's definitely a skinny margarita with Lunazul! Outside of her event work, Morgan enjoys spending time with her husband and two babies - Josie (human) and Duke (the boxer).
Jennifer Dennis, Scoremaster
This year's judging will be lead by seasoned judge and food expert, Jennifer Dennis. Jennifer is an Event Director for euphoria, as well as one of the area's leading wedding coordinators. Her attention to details will keep the judges running on time and make sure no one cheats!
How does the judging work?
We have a panel of 4 judges who will split into two teams, one team will come by your booth and taste your goods within the first two hours of the event. The judges will be scoring each cocktail and taco 1-5 for creativity, balance, presentation and overall taste. Finalists from each category will be offered the chance to present their good(s) to all the judges for a run-off. The highest score in each category wins! It is possible to win in more than one category.
